Independent Analysis — Case Study

Finding the gaps before the funders do.

Two real-world project proposals, reviewed independently — what's strong, exactly where they'd get challenged, and a prioritized plan to fix it. Delivered in three languages.

01 The work

Acting as an independent reviewer, I analyzed two proposals headed for funders and sponsors — an eco-tourism infrastructure initiative and a large cultural-festival sponsorship. For each, I delivered a clear, honest assessment: the genuine strengths, the weaknesses that would sink approval, the specific objections institutional reviewers and sponsors would raise, and a prioritized list of what to fix before submission — all written in English, French, and Haitian Creole.

02 What the reviews surfaced

The same blind spots show up again and again — and they're exactly what gets a proposal rejected:

  • No operational ownership — who maintains, staffs, and funds it after the money's spent.
  • Budgets weighted in the wrong places — heavy on the visible items, missing security, sanitation, contingency, and staffing.
  • Unrealistic timelines — an 8–10 week build that should have been 12–16.
  • No governance or procurement controls — no approval process, oversight, or accountability.
  • Weak sponsor/ROI strategy — asking for money without defined tiers, deliverables, or return.
  • Missing risk and marketing planning — no crowd/safety plan, no audience or channel strategy.

03 The framework

Every review followed the same repeatable structure: Executive summary → Strengths → Weaknesses → Strategic pushback (what reviewers will challenge) → Recommendations for approval → Overall assessment & scorecard. Plain language, no jargon — built so a decision-maker can act on it immediately.

04 Why it matters for your business

This is the same skill behind every engagement I take on. Whether it's a venue's profit-and-loss or a $55K infrastructure proposal, the job is identical: read the plan with an honest outside eye, find the gaps everyone close to it has stopped seeing, and hand back a clear path to fix them.

"The hardest thing to get is an honest outside read. That's the entire job — and I'll give it to you straight, in plain English."
